My New Found Free Image & Photo Editing Software

paint, photos, photoshop

I’ve talked about my search for photo watermarking application sometime ago. And some suggested Photoshop and GIMP.

I tried Photoshop before, it’s a good tool… in fact too good… probably I only use about 5% of its features.

GIMP is new to me. It is a free photo application. I downloaded and tried it. But like Photoshop, it is too heavy for me. Unless you are really into photo editing, then you can go either buy Photoshop or get a free GIMP.

Why am I talking about this photo editing thingy?… Well, yesterday I found a neat photo editing tools. If you are using Windows, I’m sure you must have tried Paint at least once before.

Paint is my first choice photo editing tools… yea, yea, yea… I know I’m too lame… well Paint gave me the fastest way to edit photos… and it is super light too… it doesn’t consume too much memory.

OK, back to what I wanted to tell you all… The photo editing tools I found yesterday is Paint.Net. Yes it is spelled .NET… This is an extension to Paint… and it is quite advance too.

According to some, it has been compared to Photoshop and GIMP… and the result is it can do most of what these two can do!

And YES, it is FREE too. It was developed and still growing up by students in a special project monitored (mentored?) by Microsoft… who else you think?… LOL

OK, you can go download and try it… I was surprised with its features… it is just like Photoshop :O

May 08 trip to KL Part 1 – Boarding

Air Asia, life

I’m in KL right now attending course. I came here on Sunday using Air Asia… my first time with AirAsia. Well, it supposed to be MAS but something went wrong in the booking when both of my tickets are canceled… I end up going by Air Asia and going back with MAS. I have to pay the Air Asia first then claim later… almost $500 charged to my credit card… grrrrr…

Experience with Air Asia for the fist time is ‘exciting’… here are the first part of the pictorial experience… 😀

My first ever boarding pass with Air Asia on the 25ht May 2008

I paid extra $20 for Xpress Boarding… so that I can enter the aircraft first and choose the best seat. I manage to get seat 6A 😀

Inside the waiting area at KKIA Terminal 2. I took my sweet time, and become the last person in the Xpress Boarding queue… but it gave the the chance to snap more photos.

Snapping photos on the tarmac is not allowed… but who cares… I will only stop when they catch me 😀

No aero bridge… so have to walk under the sun and use the ‘stairs’…

Manage to get some ‘good’ snaps but not as good as Fattien’s

Donggongon + Megalong = Donggolong

donggongon, life, megalong

What is Megalong? Well it supposed to be the longest mall in Borneo… that’s what the developer said… but I doubt it!

The developer ‘bulldozer’ its way to develop the mall. It was a controversial project because the land is in dispute and the approval to do the work is not in order… anyway, anything possible in our country… so the development proceeeeeed… as if nothing happened!

Because of the controversial and the ‘size’ of the project which supposed to change the face of Donggongon, I nick-named Donggongon to DONGGOLONG!

But if you are using the road around Donggongon, then you know how bad is the traffic flow around the area… especially around the Megalong… safety is waaaayyyyy below par!

These photos are taken during the public holiday, Wesak Day, around 5pm, the traffic is not that very bad.

Study Tour to Ko Nelayan at Dalit Tuaran Part 1

farming, fish, life

Last Saturday, 10 May 2008, my department’s sports club went for a study tour at Ko Nelayan, Dalit Tuaran next to Kelly’s Bay (I hope I got this right). Ko Nelayan is a government unit under the Fisheries Department. Their duties are to do research and to breed fish and prawn. They are selling the prawn and fish fries to farmers.

The group went there by bus but as usual, I drive myself. I was late and about 20KM behind them. It was raining heavily along the journey. I believe the traffic ‘speed trap’ will not work when there is not enough light, so I was speeding more than 100kmp most of the time like a Formula 1 driver trying to catch them. Cool enough I arrived there less than 3 minutes after the bus arrive 😀

This is the first part of the photos I taken…

We had our lunch at Transit Dalit

The plankton ‘farm’ for feeding prawn and fish.

More of the plankton farming lab…

Demo on how the prawn mating! Each of it cost about $130… and its duties is to breed.

Next is the $16K new generation tank from Australia… Maybe I will buy one of it… or maybe I just build one 😀 I have a video of it, I will post it later. I know someone who is starting a fish pond is eager to see the video 😉 Hold your horses… It will be in the next part I hope 😀
The design of the tank is circular and it has a reason for that…

Demo on how to control the flow of the water…

The Bernoulli concepts… see how much air bubbles in the water… oxygen for the fish.

Melissa Etheridge – California

life, song, youtube

OK, I have not posted anything for almost a week. I was quite busy with work thingy and sometimes not enough sleep but otherwise I’m OK.

Anyway, I always hear this song played at Light & Easy channel while I’m driving for sometimes. I’ve been searching for it but fail since I don’t know what the title is and who the singer is. My colleague even said the singer is a guy… ha ha ha… he is wrong then… OK I found it at last… enjoy it…

Raised up on mid-western dreams
Only a few shall get
What everyone shall need
I took my family’s burden
Strapped it to my chest
A few hundred bucks,
And a kiss for luck
And I pointed my dreams west

To California
Come rescue me
California
I am almost free

I kept on driving to the setting sun
Galaxies of angels
Welcome everyone
I took my heart out of its box
Attached it to my sleeve
Well, I will be here every night
Because that’s what I believe

In California
Come rescue me
California
I am almost free

I will find my love
I will know my peace
I will seek my truth
I am almost free
I am almost free…

I am almost free
I am almost free
I am almost free

In California
I am almost free
In California
I am almost free
(Rescue me)
California
I am almost free
