blackout?… what blackout?

air-cond, blackout, sesb, water pump

Early this morning, around 3.33am, there was a major blackout… spanning almost the whole Sabah and Labuan. I did not know about it… it was reported in the electronic news which I read in the office. I woke up as usual and there was no blackout.

According to the report, the blackout affected some 500,000 consumers and caused traffic jams at certain location in the city… I did not encounter any traffic jam this morning and the one traffic light I have cross to office was functioning as usual.

The report said, the blackout was caused by an explosion at the main power distribution station at Jalan Bundusan, about 3 km from my house… Immediately Sabah Electricity SDN BHD (SESB) scrambled to repair the fault and gradually restored the power to most major town from 7am.

I guess SESB service has improved since I did not feel the blackout… even at the office. If their service in restoring the power was slow, I guess a lot of people will be unable to make it to the office on time this morning… and a lot will complain with the heat. Actually my office was a bit warm but it was not that so bad… and the water supply is normal… meaning the air-conds and water pumps are still working… probably not at 100% but OK for it to make the people inside the office building comfortable.

Photo copied from Facebook shows the parts exploded at the Jalan Bundusan SESB Distribution Station.

car service

air-cond, hot air, outdoor fireplace, umw

Yesterday, 19 August, I sent my car to UMW Toyota for 65k service… the previous service was like 5 months ago and it was for the 55k kilometer-age servicing… meaning I actually skipped the 60k servicing… car servicing supposed to be conducted at every 5,000 kilometer or at every 3 months. But I don’t like to follow the month schedule, I prefer the kilometer-age… coz I’m using a fully synthetic lubricant oil which can stand at very high temperature and I read somewhere, it said it can be used up to 100,000km at normal driving condition… 😛

Anyway, it was not a normal servicing… do you know that you have to service your air-cond system in every 30k km?… well, that’s the recommendation by Toyota. But I think it is true coz my car seem to be hotter since the past one month or so… the air coming out from the air-cond is not ‘cozy’ sometimes… but still consider cool but it feels a bit warmer… it makes you stress… it feels like the hot air from outside is entering the cabin… as if there is an outdoor fireplace lighted-up outside and the hot air from it are entering car… something like heater…

So, I included air-cond servicing to solve the problem… I also included washing and polishing… but forgot to ask them to check my brake system… but luckily they actually checked my brake system and replace the thinning front brake pad…. and the result is great… the air-cond is cozy now… but that did not come free… the air-cons servicing alone was RM480… 😛 but it worth it…
