Power surfboarders enjoying Turnagain Arm Boretide
Alaska, Boretide, Girdwood, Offshore Accident, Tidal Bore, Turnagain ArmImagine standing on a piece of board for 45 minutes and traveling at about 7 miles per hour without any mechanical power or what so ever… not on the ground or air… but on the surface of water… that is truly amazing…
This is exactly the 13 power boarders experienced for riding surfboard on the Alaskaβs Turnagain Arm Tidal Bore. Foot cramps forΒ doing lots of turns on the stand-up board is part of the thrills… five miles is a long distance you know… if your foot muscles are not fit enough for the balancing act on the board, you might not last the 45 minutes rides of your life… me? I don’t think I can… furthermore I don’t know how to swim… π But no worries, there was no reported Offshore Accident so far… only happy stories π And I’m sure the surfers has their life covered with insurance… you know… just in case… you never know… it’s a long journey… π
Anyways, this time the act by Eric Newberry, Dave Calkins and Mike McCune riding on the waves was recorded by photographer and multi-sport athlete Scott Dickerson… and he recorded the whole scene while gliding on air… yea, he was on paraglider… how cool was that?… one is on air and another on water… π I hope and wish I can visit this place, Girdwood Alaska, one day… the place looks awesome… fantastic… π And do enjoy the aerial video of the rides…
