I guess my blog is back online… like 99% now… and it loads faster too…

What happen?

Well, formerly my hosting at Exabytes was on Microsoft Windows platform, Windows EBiz Plus… unfortunately there are many limitations in term of features compared to a Linux hosting. For instance I can only host one domain and can’t do add-on domain. And it is also a bit slow when loading…

Because of that limitation, I can only do domain parking for my other domain which is very troublesome in term of managing files and contents.

So after two years… yes my first domain was conceived on the 12 June 2007… juggling with my files for my multiple domains by just using ‘domain parking’, I decided it is time for me to do something about it.

Lucky for me, recently my hosting, Exabytes, launch a new package, Linux EBiz Gold Unlimited… yes it has everything UNLIMITED… add on domain, disk space, monthly data transfer, MySQL databases, etc…. are all UNLIMITED!!!

I have enquired Exabytes in January whether I can change my hosting package… and they said yes…. that’s was 5 months ago.

So last Friday, 19 Jun 2009, I backup all my files and host my Swordie Bloggie temporary at my cousin’s hosting and redirect all my traffic to it. About two months earlier I have moved my other domains to my cousin’s hosting.

The swordbomber.com temporally DNS entries at my cousin’s hosting was propagated quite well and fast throughout the world… but unfortunately I can’t understand what is wrong with TM Net’s streamyx DNS… it was not updating itself… well normally it takes up to 72 hours to get updated for normal circumstances… but why others like Jaring, Celcom, Maxis and the rest can update theirs within half an hour?… sick streamyx…

Because of that, I have to wait until the next day, Saturday, before I created a service ticket with Exabytes, to change my hosting package… I actually re-open my earlier ticket I created in January about enquiring changing my hosting.

I got their reply and they are ok with it and they need to issue me a new invoice since I need to top-up for the new package… I checked my email too late… it was already 1pm… I replied them immediately to proceed to issue the invoice…

Well it was a bad idea to do the migration on Friday and to do purchasing on Saturday!!!

Why?

Well, in my opinion… after going through with this experience… changing hosting package is not categorized under 24×7 support… it has to do with sales… Sales only work on Monday to Friday… but I thought if I do it on Friday in Malaysia, I still can get extra one day since US is still on Thursday… but looks like I’m wrong…

Anyway, come Monday, I still did not get a reply from Exabytes… so I created another service ticket for 24×7 supports to enquire about my earlier ticket… still can’t wait… I used the online chat support service… they told me they will look into it immediately.

After an hour I got my invoice… paid it immediately and got my new UNLIMITED hosting within less than half hour after I made the payment!!!

Transferred all my Swordie Bloggie files… and now I’m on my new UNLIMITED hosting… can upload more photos… no worries about storage and monthly data transfer 😀

Next to move back my other domain… slowly… 😛
