No holiday

holiday, life, luggage, rant, work

Everybody started taking year end leave already… everybody are going for vacation… but for those whose duties are to make sure the systems runs well at all time will hardly get those luxury 😛

And I really hate it when some people don’t understand that doing important support job is a stressful job… we can’t just leave things behind… and this ‘people’ simply call for unnecessary meetings… for the sake of trying to complete their own unimportant work… if the lame meeting is not conducted this year, no account will be unclosed you see… but when system don’t work, the whole administration and accounting will collapse… I think the luggage sets I bought in KL during WCA last month will not be going anyway soon… probably till next year… 😛

In festive mood

1borneo, christmas, hotel

Shopping complexes in the city are all in festive mood… Christmas songs are pumped through the speakers at every corner. Christmas trees are fully decorated… the whole complexes are decorated…

Santa Claus is everywhere… cheering kids, taking photo with kids… including adults… and giving away gifts…

That was how it looks like at 1Borneo last Saturday when I went there to see the PIKOM PC Fair and went to play the archery. The center court was full with Christmas decorations… guests staying at the three hotels at 1Borneo must be feeling like staying in new york hotels with the atmosphere like that 😀

Shooting with bow and arrows

1borneo, accident, archery, arrow, bow, disability, extreme, sport

Life was hectic after I came back from KL on the 22 November 2009. There were so many works to be done in a short period and they keep coming… 😛

So today went to 1Borneo to let go some steam… shooting with bow and arrows… yea there is a new game at the 3rd floor of 1Borneo… the game is quite dangerous coz it involve arrow… a weapon which can hurt and kill!

The place is quite secure but more safety precautions should be put in place… especially when the workers go inside to collect the arrows. Who knows if someone accidentally let go an arrow and hit any of the worker… accident will not allow disability appeal… if the arrow hit the eye, that’s it… blind is the name!!! No turning back… you can’t appeal… 😛

Anyway, the game is only RM9…

Danger in the sky

air, collision, GPS, ILS, plane, radar, road

Do you know that the safest mode of transport is by air, yet still not many people prefer to travel by air.

Comparing the total number of accidents with death between road and air, it shows that road fatality is much higher than air fatality.

Anyway, on 3 December 2009, two jet planes almost collided in Atlanta mid-air. With all the sophisticated instruments on board the planes and also at the airport control tower around the world like radar, ILS, GPS, etc… still near misses occur… but almost all cases are not caused by the instruments, but human error.

Lucky, with the sophisticated instruments, although human error occur, these instruments manage to avoid disaster at the very last few seconds by taking over the plane or by warning the pilots.

Super portable notebook but without the mini card

cellular, currency, forex, gsm, mini card, notebook, portable, Sony, vaio

A friend has been playing FoRex… or currency trading… online for sometimes.

Recently he withdrew his profit of about USD$1000… which comes to RM3,500 after converting it to the ringgit.

With that amount of profit, he bought a Sony VIAO P notebook… so that he can do his forex trading anytime on the road. I do like the Sony VAIO P coz its screen is only 8 inch… very small and lightweight.

But the only drawback is it doesn’t have a built-in cellular mini card so that SIM card can be inserted directly onto it instead of using the external cellular modem through the USB port.

If it comes with the build-in cellular mini card, it will definitely defeat the rest of the super portable notebook in the market… hopefully Sony and the other notebook manufacturers will integrate the cellular mini card into their notebook as soon as possible… the demand is there… then soon everyone will ask for a WiMax mini card!!!

Online shopping rules Black Friday

barcode, black friday, credit card, online, scanner, shopping

This year, it seems that online shopping rules the Black Friday…or at least getting advantage. More and more shoppers prefer online shopping… no long lines at the counter… no bad weather… no cart pushing or racing… no stampede… all you need is your credit or charge card… and you don’t even need a card or barcode scanner to read your card.

Online shoppers have the advantage of shopping on their pajama right in their home in front of their computer… and they can do it anytime… even at the very last minute of the Black Friday shopping frenzy.

Next we wait and see how Christmas shopping going to be this year…

26 November 2009 Thanksgiving day… 27 November 2009 Black Friday… both are over… but the only thing which is not over yet is the food overload…

Well, its time to detoxify yourself… don’t think about weight loss pills yet… better cleanse your body from all those bad food first…  How?… Sweat out yourself lah… 😛

Go jogging… go sauna… go swimming… do anything to sweat out… 😀

Back to Back Movies

2012, fat, food, gym, hunger, movie, ninja assassin

Watched movies back to back last night… first it was Ninja Assassin at 9.40 pm then 2012 at 11.50 pm.

It was not really planned… my body was still fatigue after the two weeks KL journey with the paintball tournament there. Although my body still says I’m tired, I still went to the gym yesterday and finished around 9.00 pm before we rushed to the cinema to find out what showing.

Then we decided to watch two movies… but after purchasing the tickets, we found out that we don’t have enough time to have dinner… and I was damm hungry after the gym!

Each of us end up eating 1901 beef burger, 5 balls of chicken balls and large popcorn plus large Pepsi… and these are not fat burner foods… but no choice coz we have no time… will burn what ever we ate tomorrow at the gym again… 😀

Ninja Assassin is full with bloods… I don’t think it’s suitable for kids.

2012 is not tat bad… makes you think… but I was falling asleep in some part coz it was already midnight… the movie over around 2.15 am…

Falling Scaffoldings

insurance, land and survey department, life, renovation, safety, scaffoldings

If you come across with this situation… probably your car insurance alone will not be sufficient… you gonna need a life insurance too… if the scaffolding fall directly on your path!!!

The photos were captured this morning around 10am along Penampang Road. The scaffoldings are used to do renovation on the old Land and Survey Department’s office near Queen Elizabeth Hospital… which is also in the process of being demolish.

If the safety net was not erected next to the building, the scaffolding definitely have fallen onto the road… imagine if there are few cars travelling along the road at 80 KM/h… sure there will be pile of cars sandwiched together!!!

I hope they have removed the scaffolding for everyone’s safety… the relevant authority in charge of safety should visit the site and give the contractor a hard lecture on safety…

Do you know that to erect or assemble the scaffoldings you need to go through a course and certification?
