Lucky not broken

accident, claim, extreme, insurance, paintball, quotes, sports

On the fist day of November, which happens to be All Saints Day, I had a bad self accident during a paintball game. There are about 20 over of us from the MCSE class playing.

I fall down while trying to shift from one bunker to the other. It was the last match… it is actually an additional match after most of the other went back… only about 9 of us left and we decided to play 3 on 3.

My left trigger finger… index finger… was badly torn… coz I fall down and the trigger finger was absorbing my fall… holding my 95kg body weight!!! But lucky it did not brake to the opposite but instead get torn…

Went to clinic at Donggongon and had 5 stitches on it. Supposed to remove the stitches on 10th day, but I was away in KL for the Hacker Halted 2009… at the end I only manage to remove it on the 14th November at Medicare Clinic in Mid Valley, KL.

Then had it x-ray on Monday, 16th November, at the same clinic coz I was worried something might be broken inside… yea, should have x-ray it before it get stiched… 😛

But anyway, I’m lucky nothing broken inside… except it is still swollen till now and still cant bend it completely.

Next, I need to do insurance quotes… errr.. insurance claim… I must get my insurance to refund me all the medical bills… and plus 2 weeks of allowance… probably RM150 per week… 😀

Thanks to Donny who send me to the clinic and helping to take the photos inside the clinic… 😀

The torn trigger finger

Not crying… just giving pressure to the arm to reduce pain while getting clean… 😛

Stiching…

and stiching…

Stiched… 😛

Getting anti-tetanus jab.

I’m Back

accident, extreme, hacker halted, injuries, paintball, sports, wca

OK, I have been missing for almost 4 weeks from this blog… 😛

Well, there are many things went by for the past 24 days…

Let me just summarize what happen for the past 24 days… and later I will talk more about it in the next postings…

Fist day of November, I injured myself during in a friendly paintball game… other than face mask, I did not use any other protective gear… not even breeches… lol.. only use my standard clothing… t-shirt with short pants… I played 3 matches… but on the third match I use a vest… and that is the time I injured my finger and end up with 5 stitches!!!

On the second week of November, I was away in KL for Hackers Halted 2009… it was fun but the rainy days with dry air in KL made my lips cracked. I’m glad to be back home and enjoy the cool breeze here.

Third week, I was waiting for my paintball team in KL for the World Cup Asia 2009 – Paintball Asia Series (PALS) which runs from 19 to 22 November 2009. My team, Predator Sabah, played in Division 4. Another team, Kinabalu Legion played in Division 3.

Forth week, feeling exhausted and back to work… 😛

Speakers box cum tv stand

cabinet, design, entertainment, radical, speakers, stand, tv

I need to find an interesting… space age… speakers’ box design which can also turn as tv stand…

Usually we put the tv on a tv cabinet or stand. As for the sound system, if it a HiFi, we need to have some space for the HiFi and also for the few large speakers on the left and right… and front for the sub-woofer.

But to save space, why not have tv stands which also house the speakers… including the sub-woofer…  that will save some space and some messy wiring… and the living room will be neater… need to do some radical design to accomplish this… 😀

Christmas Cards with Photo

cards, christmas, greetings, life, photo, season

Last week, a man came to my office. He came to sell Christmas cards… he is helping the Carmelite to sell the christmas photo cards.

He was selling me the last pack he brought along with him. It was around 3pm something when he entered my office… that’s why he only left with one pack. He has been going around the building from door to door selling the Christmas cards since afternnon.

He said he has been helping the Carmelite selling the cards for many years already… I can’t really remember but I think he said something like 5 years or so… or was it 15?…

Anyway, I bought from him the last pack for RM15.00 😀

Core Fitness Solo Slim

core, fitness, gym, health, life, slim, solo, sports

About 4 weeks ago, I followed a friend to a gym. I have not entered any gym for the past 15 years… I think… 😛

I wanted to beef-up my muscle a bit… and build my stamina… coz next year if everything go smooth, we have a big plan to climb Mount Kinabalu… 😛

I’m not planning to get slim or get skinny… and I don’t want to get six packs or massive muscles… I just want to get healthy and fit to do our expedition… 😛 Each of us probably need to carry 20kg or more of gears to climb Mount Kinabalu which stand at 4,095 meters high.

Then two weeks ago, I signed-up with the gym for 1 year membership… the gym is not Solo Slim Gym… but Core Fitness… yes it is without the gym at its name… yea, it sound weird without the gym at the back… probably the word gym is no longer suitable today… by just using the word fitness is good enough I guess… more grand probably… 😛

Anyway, Core Fitness is located at City Mall along the Lintas Road. Their equipments are great… the main reason I join them. An tonight, I brought two friends to the fitness center and each of them signed-up for 3 months membership… 😀

If they sign-up for 1 year membership… as a referrer I will be given extra two months free membership… but unfortunately they did not take the 1 year membership. And for my 1 year membership that I signed-up for, I was given a free water bottle… 😀

Uninvited caller or guest…

insurance, life, online, time, work

Traditionally, insurance agents will randomly approach their prospect clients. And that approach is still working until today. Insurance agents also get their prospect clients’ contact from their existing clients… or from the unsuccessful client they just discussed with… ‘Please introduce me to your friends who might want to buy insurance?…’ or ‘Please give me 5 of your friends contact so that I can introduce them with our new insurance package?…’ 😛

I really hate it when insurance agents call me and try to sell me insurance policy!!! When I asked them how they got hold of my contact number… they say from my colleague… dang colleague!!!… and these insurance agents always talk a lot… sometimes I just talk straight to their face telling them that I’m not interested buying anything.

They don’t have to waste their time and my time explaining something that I’m not considering buying!!! If I ever need any details about a particular insurance, I can always read it online from the internet… and I also can buy life insurance online without going through them!!!

Iceland is not suitable for Big Mac lovers

big mac, eating, food, iceland, krona, mc donald, McDonald, weight loss

Next week, the three McDonald’s restaurants in Reykjavik, Iceland, will be close for good.

The collapse of the Iceland’s krona currency has forced McDonald to take the big bite out of the country. It’s a big loss to the fast food lovers in that country… especially to the BigMac lovers… 😛

It must be hard to imagine… a place without McDonald!!! 🙁

Health conscious group must be laughing their head’s off after receiving the good news… 😛 They will be happy that there will be no more overweight people in their country… but more skinny people… and it’s going to be a bad business for those who are doing sliming products business in Iceland… there is no use to advertise slimming product in Iceland anymore… no use to pop-up ‘click here for weight loss pills’ advertisement in their internet browser from now on… 😛

Good luck to Icelanders without Big Mac… and Icelanders please say good bye to McDonald… 😛

Smashing food’s Guinness World Record… giant tabbouleh

diet, food, guinness, hummus, life, salad, tabbouleh, travel, world record

On Sunday, 25 October 2009, Guinness World Record was set in Beirut’s Saifi Market. For two days since Saturday, the Saifi Market was filled with the sound of chopping, cheering and the sweet, grassy smell of tons of freshly cut parsley.

Lebanon famous chef Ramzi Choueiry and the gang preparing the giant tabbouleh salad for a new Guinness World Record at Saifi Market in Beirut, Lebanon.

Thousands of visitors showed up to cheer the 250 sous chefs and 50 of their instructor from the Kafaat School of Catering. Their target is to prepare the world’s biggest tabbouleh salad.

Tabbouleh is salad made of chopped parsley and tomatoes… sound like a very tasty salad and healthy too… which I believe is much better than the best diet pills available today. I like to eat salad very much… the only good place for me to eat salad here is at McDonald Pizza Hut 😛

Lebanese chefs busy chopping tomatoes to be mixed with parsley for their giant tabbouleh.

For the record… the Lebanese chefs manage to prepare more than 3 tons of tabbouleh salad… to be exact, it was 3,557 kilograms or 7,841 pounds of tabbouleh salad. According to the organizer, the previous record was held by Israel.

Lebanese chefs successfully prepared a massive plate of tabbouleh weighing 3,557 kilograms or 7,841 pounds in Beirut, Lebanon, on Sunday, 25 October 2009.

The day before, Saturday, they also manage to set a new record for the biggest hummus plate weighing 2,056 kilograms or 4,532 pounds, more than quadruple the previous record.

The giant plate or bowl holding the tabbouleh also set a new reword for being the biggest and largest rotating terracotta-colored hummus bowl.

In other word, Lebanese set 3 new Guinness World Records during the festival.

But these also means war of words between Lebanon and Israel will not stop here… both countries claimed tabbouleh and hummus are belongs to them… I hope they don’t go for war because of food… let’s just enjoy the tasty food ok…

6+1 monitors for a notebook

adapter, cards, computer, display, usb, UXGA, video

A friend was asking me the other day if there are possibilities to use multiple monitors on his notebook. I said sure… use a VGA splitter or Video splitter.

But that’s not what he wanted… he wants to display different section of the display on different monitor… duhh…

Well I told him that his notebook already has one VGA port to connect to a bigger monitor.

But no… he wants to use two external monitor… so the setup will be with 3 LCD displays… the notebook LCD screen and two external monitors…

emm… lucky, I’ve seen a device before which can do exactly what he wanted to do… the device is simply called as USB UXGA Adapter by the computer shops… 😛

What exactly is USB 2.0 UXGA Adapter?

Well, it is an external video card or you can also call it as external display card… The adapter, a small electronic box which has an USB port and VGA or DVI or both ports.  To use the video cards adapter, you simply plug in the USB cable from the notebook to one end of the adapter. On the other end of the adapter, connect the monitor’s VGA or DVI cable.

If the adapter’s driver is properly installed, the operating system like Windows should be able to detect the adapter and use it as secondary monitor… or third monitor… the first is the notebook LCD monitor, second is the monitor connected to the VGA port on the notebook and the third is the monitor connected to the USB UXGA Adapter.

You can install up to 6 USB UXGA adapters at one time… provided you have 6 USB 2.0 ports available. And all 6 external monitors should be able to display UXGA resolution at 1600×1200… wow… :O
