Back-up data without plan… until plan C + plan D
blog, work October 11th, 2007My plan C fail… there were still “toing toing”. Since there was no one interacting with the notebook last night in the office, the process was halted till I reach the office today.
So, this time I made another plan… Plan D. I installed the SyncToy into the new notebook. This will cut 1 process compared to Plan C. I mapped the shared folder in the old notebook into the new notebook. Then I fired SyncToy, created the profile and run it. It went smoothly… until the “toing” appears again. I fixed the “long file name” on the old notebook and re-run the SyncToy… until everything transfered… clap clap clap… wasted almost the whole day checking the notebooks from time to time to see if it got “toing”…

SyncToy is from Microsoft and it is free… the last update of SyncToy is around 2006… it is a great tool to sync or backup your thumbdrive… it’s quite fast… I’m sure there are similar tools out there… but ‘biasalah’… Microsoft kan 🙂
Never thought about Windows backup features… maybe I try that in future 🙂
