They migrated, did they see this coming?
home, life, migrating, real estate February 6th, 2009My colleagues, husband and wife, are both holding senior posts. One day, that’s more than 5 years ago I think, they announced that they are going to resign and migrate somewhere else.
Both of them are earning almost $10K a month each and during that time the economy are considered very well. They have big house and I’m sure they own more than one houses.
I asked them, what’s’ the problem? The husband said, it’s for their kids. I asked, what’s wrong with our school? They said nothing wrong. Then I asked again, what is the big problem then?
They said their kids will not have a good future if they grow here. I just can’t swallow what they telling me at that time. Migrating to another country will need a lot of money… and of course you need to secure a job too else how to survive there. I’m not sure if they already own a home oversees at that time… probably they do and bought it from Wilmington NC real estate maybe, they can’t just go there and hop into any house.
Now, looking at what’s going around here right now… the economy… the politics… I think they did see this coming. Now, I can say to them… ‘You all did the right move lah…’

It’s useless migrate to a western country.
Unless your colleague are one of those who hate eastern culture.
I know ini untuk your money post but.. hahaha
It’s not for their children’s future i think.
I think they did sumthing wrong or wnat to betray the country and boost the country they wanna live. *donate duit to the country they prefer to migrate*
hahahaha

can understand how they feel. it is kind of depressing to see the bad always win the good in Malaysia. everything seems wrong here, the ACA, ISA, EC, newspapers, etc.

I’m sure more than 70% of the population will agree with you 😛

At the rate we’re going in Malaysia, jumping ship makes perfect sense. However, the grass is not always greener.

That reminds me, it’s time to contact them again and ask whether life’s better down under.
One point of interest: I have an uncle who’s been an Australian PR for more than 20 years. Last Christmas he was back here and I asked him: uncle, tell me truthfully, with your more than 20 years experience as a PR there, which is better? His answer: work Aussie better, retire Sabah better.

I’m some how agree with your uncle… find money overseas for the currency advantage… and come back once satisfied with the savings 😀
