Because of the ‘super lightning’ last Wednesday night, 21 January 2009, I have to spend a few hundred bucks to replace my broadband Linksys modem router. I was not the only one getting a barbecued modem that nigh, but two of my friends also had a modem barbecue party that night. One is about 10 km from my house and another is about 30 km away… it was really a ‘super lightning’ party indeed…

So on last Saturday, 24 January 2009, I went to Karamunsing Complex to buy a replacement. I bought a Belkin Wireless G+MIMO ADSL2+ Modem Router for $338 bucks.

I also bought a Belkin MasterCube Surge Protector. It is a wall mount-direct plug-in surge protection for the modem router adapter. It also has RJ11 port for the telephone wire to protect the modem and it cost $85 bucks.

I actually wanted a multi sockets surge protector just like my existing APC multi plugs surge protector but the shop don’t have stocks for the multi plugs. But luckily, my friend has one unused APC multi sockets surge protector… it is a lower model compared to my existing one. But it is good enough for the time being I guess to protect my other electronics gadgets like the TV, Astro decoder and sound systems. My friend sold it to me for $35 bucks. I will buy a better model for the electronics gadgets later and I will use this one as my ‘outstation’ gear… coz the existing APC I have is a little bigger… this one is quite compact.
