Meeting at 1Borneo

1borneo, pills, work

I had a meeting at 1Borneo on Tuesday, 24 March 2009. It was at the Ballroom, Level 3 and it starts at 8.30 am.

I leave home at 7.03 am and have to join the traffic jams at Lintas Road, Damai Road, Likas Bay Road and last but not least the Kingfisher Roundabout.

I usually take the first entrance to 1Borneo to go to the underground parking. I reached the 1Borneo underground parking at 7.58 am… damm… almost 1 hour on the road!!!

I really have no idea where the Ballroom is. When I enter 1Borneo, it was still empty. I walk to two counters on the ground floor but no one manning the counter. I went to the centre court and see someone looks like wearing uniform. I approached him thinking he is one of the workers and ask him where the Ballroom is.

He seems to be a bit lost but still answer me by pointing somewhere and saying it is near the lift. I reacted with ‘blur blur’ face… probably he sensed that and he said he will show me.

While walking with him, he told me he also not sure where the Ballroom is. He is just a driver and his boss also went to the Ballroom. My mind said… O shoot…

Anyway, he took me all the way to the Level 3 using the escalator. I saw my colleague already inside and join them.

They asked me whether I’m from downstairs… I said of course lah… you wan me to fly, the parking is downstairs what!!! Then they pointed outside… when I turned… OH NO… I SEE CARS… I SEE PARKING… right at the Level 3 of 1Borneo’s… the very next to the Ballroom… damm…

After lunch at the meeting, I went downstairs to my car. I stopped at Watson Pharmacy at Ground Floor to buy some weight loss pills… 😆 No lah… to buy some supplements. I bought Vitamin C and CoQ10. I have not taken those stuffs for quite sometimes… and luckily I have not encounter any flu, runny nose or sneezing since the last time I took them, especially the Vitamin C coz every time I stopped taking Vitamin C, I will sneeze a lot in the morning.

Damm Conficker

conficker, downadup, work, worm

Killing worms you dug out from your back yard is easy, unless you scared with it, but killing a single worm stuck in you computer is like fighting a mammoth with a chop stick!

After struggling for almost two weeks… and almost skipping every meal, day and night, at last I finally manage to kill the bloody worm stuck in our network ‘perimeter’!… although it doesn’t have blood 😆

I guess doing troubleshooting work like this is the best way to diet, better then the best diet pills you can find out there. Yea, everyone said I’m gaining weight… yea right! It’s all because of the work you all given to me… the more work I have to do, the faster I get bigger.

I was trying every scanner I can find on the net to scan for worm, trojan or virus in the computer but no luck. Every time packets travel through the network… not ‘maggi mee’ packets ok… packets as data in the network… it gets hijacked… especially when it involved Microsoft website or any antivirus website. Whenever someone try to access the Microsoft website or antivirus website, they get redirected to some other places. But visiting other sites is ok.

But luckily, early morning yesterday, my colleague said the worm we are looking for could be the conficker! Damm… I was trying to recall this name since last week… I immediately google for its remover… and the best remover is from Symantec which they call the Conficker as Downadup worm. Download the Conficker remover from Symantec, run it and within less than half hour, the whole network is healed!!! Hallelujah …

Now I can go eat more and get fatter 😆

What have been?

life, singapore, travel, work

Many things occur since my last post. The most recent is streamyx was down for almost 2 days, late Friday to early Sunday, and it seems that certain part of Sabah was affected by some strange disturbances which spoil the streamyx.

Then there are piles of work waiting back in the office. There was training last week for the system we developed with more than 20 participants for 2 days. I have to make sure the training server is working fine… luckily it was working fine for the 2 days training. But the worse part is, it seems that our network DNS has been poisoned. I was trying to fix it since last week. My next solution is to rebuild the whole ‘perimeter’… that will eat up plenty of my time… again!

Then accounting work also waiting to be done… few things on systems need to be modified and to build… imagine accountants not sure the flow of their accounting works! And we supposed to tell them how to do their work, their work flow… crap, how to do system like that?…

Two weeks ago I was in Singapore attending forum for 3 days. I went there on Tuesday, 3rd March, and back on Saturday, 7th March 2009.

But lucky I was happily touring Singapore during the night and the day before I fly home. It was tiring attending the ‘boring’ forum and touring the city at night. My back and legs were save by my Crocs shoes which make the walking enjoyable… if not, I will be complaining of back and legs pain 😛

OK that’s all for now… no photos this time, lazy to upload 😛

Eh… wait… politic really sucks!!! Really feels like ‘dungu’ when you are outside the country and hearing the stupid politic happening back home!!! Gosh… so ‘malu’…

Men of Honor

life, team, work

I think nobody will die just because the person has to do some extra work… unless you like to be spoon feed. If it your line of duties… your expertise… graduated for it… hired for it… whenever you encounter ‘its problem’, I’m sure you have to put some effort or extra effort to do research on how to solve it, right? Not keep asking without trying to solve it… digg it!!!

A doctor will not wail or make excuses and start complaining to an accountant on how he encounter a problem stitching wound… shoot man… that is your expertise… why on earth a doctor asking an accountant on how to stitch wound? Damm… that doctor is making excuse or trying to sweep the problem under the carpet… no, carpet is too clean for that… rug better… under the pile of dirty rugs!!!

Anyway, I enjoyed watching the story on how Carl Brashear fought his way to become the first African-American US Navy Diver on Astro tonight.

He has to endure all kind of obstacles starting from the camp chief to the instructor and to his team mates who do not want to see him get through the tests, all because of his color. He can’t get team work or support from his team mates except for one or two who are almost at the same situation as him.

He works hard and tried his best! All because diving is his passion and he want to be a great diver and save lives. His instructor was saying something like ‘you will die if the person next to you doesn’t work with you’… or ‘not with you’… it is a team game, simple! When your team mate is in trouble, help! But people said ‘heroes die early’… probably that’s why people don’t want to have extra work… even tiny extra work!

Dim Sum oh Dim Sum

food, life, work

Yesterday, 11 February 2009, as usual my office section had a weekly meeting. Our weekly meeting is called Morning Prayer. Don’t ask me why it is called like that because it was like that since before I started working here. And why the heck I want to talk about our weekly meeting? . . . Continue Reading »

I have not abandon my blog

gayana, life, work

Gosh… it was quite sometimes already since the last posting. I did not really abandon it… I still do come here and check my blogroll to see what updates they have.

It’s just that I really don’t have the mood to write anything… I just look at it… and let everything go…

Anyway, since the first day of this year, I’m still occupied with my work… was struggling with the account systems. You know how important it is to make sure the previous financial accounts are closed on time. Have to make sure the systems are working correctly… whenever the system ‘whistle’, I have to make it stop ‘whistling’!

Then the current year works started coming already… in fact I just came back from Gayana Eco Resort at Gaya Island yesterday. I was there since Sunday till yesterday, Wednesday. The office’s top guns including the new Director went there to set the department’s 2009 goals. Twenty sets of goals… meaning there are 20 branches in HQ, and have not included the 24 districts yet… that for sure extra works for this year… going to be very busy again this year… busier than last year I’m sure… everyone need IT!

Waking up this morning is already like ‘zombie’… my whole body is aching… probably caused by the heat and the work in Gayana Eco Resort… with presentation and discussion from 8am to 10pm!!! I think I’m going to loose some weight this time… no need Leptorexin pills to diet… but I think it will be the opposite, coz when I work a lot, I gain weight instead of loosing weight 😮

I took some photos in Gayana Eco Resort but I’m not going to show it now coz I’m too lazy to edit and upload them… next time I show.

Duty calls

air-con, desk, faulty, work

Duty calls… no choice but to attend it although it still Christmas week. The air-con in the server room supposed to be fixed a couple of weeks ago. I reminded them again before Christmas, that’s was on Wednesday.

I have been warning them that the temperature in the server room is too warm… both air-cons are not in good working condition. Even the air-con compressor outside are making loud noises.

So here I am… on leave but in the office. While waiting things to be done, I sit in my room doing what I need to finish. Well, I guess it is blessing in disguise… at least I can do some work while no one disturb me… I’m not going to answer any calls or entertain anyone coming. Sorry… I’m on leave OK.

So, looking at my desk, I was thinking, do I need computer desks? Yea, computer desk… you know, computer table… for my two CPUs and a monitor… which are enough to accommodate a desktop PC, a server, a monitor and a KVM switch.

But I don’t really like using computer desk. I prefer my monitor to be on my table and the CPUs under the table or at the side of the table. That’s why I like to have slightly bigger table so that it can act as an office desk and also as computer desk. It is much convinient to do work… because I can say that more than three quarter of my office hours, I will be using the computer. I don’t have to switch desk.

What I actually need are filling cabinets… the files and documents are pilling on my office desk cum computer desk… and yes, it looks very messy, you don’t have to remind me for that 😛

Journey Around Sabah… Sandakan Region – Sandakan, Telupid, Beluran & Ranau

hotel, journey, life, sandakan, work

My destination for this week Journey around Sabah is Sandakan Region. I will be visiting our offices at Sandakan, Telupid, Beluran and Ranau. The journey is very tiring and right now I’m in Kensington Hotel, Sandakan. This hotel is new… only about 3 months old. I don’t think it has many rooms since it only has 2 floors and located in shop lots. Environment is clean and quite… coz the area is still new 😀

And every time I go for travel, I carry few things with me. Other than travel insurance which is included in our service benefits, these few items are necessity… tooth brush, tooth paste, shaver… and of course soap… but soap normally provided by the hotel including some other stuff like shampoo.

Normally I just pack these things into a plastic bag. But this time is different… I bought a Darlie Travel Kit which I believe they just introduced. The kit includes a small tube of tooth paste and a tooth brush. The travel kit bag is big enough to fit my shaver into it which make my packing easier 😀

Going to continue my Journey Around Sabah next week…

life, travel, work

Travel, travel, travel… journey, journey, journey… outstation, outstation, outstation… these are the words which keep on playing on my head… and it is all about work. Of course I really wish I can travel for real… to the north pole maybe 😀

I have been talking about my journey around Sabah for the past few weeks. Next week we are going to continue with it again, after three weeks of break including the Hari Raya break.

This time we are heading to Sandakan region… Although in our ‘journey around Sabah’, this is the first time we are travelling by road and none of us have driven to all our destinations before, so far we have not lost any of our way. Well, you can say that the road signs along our journey are very helpful, as good as the las vegas strip map 😆

Very true that we have not lost any of our way… and we manage to reach to our destination on time. But I hope by saying this, we are not going to get lost on our next journey… I cross my finger… and I hope our next journey will be just like our previous ‘two weeks’ journey to Tawau region and Keningau region.
