Canon or Sony?

camera, Canon, dlp projector, Sony

Canon or Sony?… You must be thinking I’m having problem deciding what camera to choose right?… But NO, I’m not talking about camera… I’m comparing dlp projector for small conference room…. about 25′ x 30′.

The projector must be able to be mounted up-side-down from the ceiling… its going to be permanent on the ceiling so that there is no issue about borrowing and configuring it every time there is an event in the conference room. Anyways, I have not decided yet… πŸ˜›

large format scanner

document scanning, large format scanner

When you need it, that’s the time you can’t find it or it’s not working. Well this is what happen to our colleague from outstation. They wanted to borrow the large scanner from Architect Branch or Structural Branch… and they are not doing the regular document scanning on A4 or A3 paper… they need to scan plans… on size A0 paper and it’s urgent…

Unfortunately the scanner at both branches is not working properly… so they have to come to us for rescue… luckily we have one for the GIS… and it’s working fine… πŸ˜€ You see scanning large papers are very rare… but there are times when this large format scanner is really needed… and not all can afford it… coz the prize is as much as a small car!

check cooling system

check cooling system, home theatre system, LCD TV, samsung

After almost 4 years, our LCD TV suddenly started showing an information message on the screen. It says ‘check cooling system’… Although the message box is transparent, it’s not transparent enough and it’s very irritating coz it moves around the entire screen.

I’m not really sure what’s the problem… the body of the TV was a little bit warm all these while… before the message box appears. But now that the message box appears, I can’t feel the heat on the TV anymore… it’s cold. What the meaning of this?… Do it need the heat or not?… But why showing ‘check cooling system’?… Is it the cooling system making the TV too cold?…

Before it really go kaput… I better start searching for replacement candidate… samsung home theatre system would be great… coz it’s the cheapest in the market… and should I take 3D TV?… I don’t think so… there is no reason to have 3D TV for now coz there are not many shows in 3D and not many DVD or Blue Ray movies in 3D… maybe next time when the price is much lower and affordable… πŸ˜›

franchise

Burger King, franchise, KFC, Pizza Hut, Sub Way

One way to make money is by trading virtual money… forex. But it’s too risky… high risk job. Another way is through franchise… most people said franchise business is easy to setup coz everything are all set… all the way from the business strategy to the furniture design for the shop… you just need to provide the space and a sum of money.

When it comes to franchise business, the few business I can think off are Pizza Hut, KFC, McDonald, Burger King and Sub Way… ok, I do realize that… they are all fast food chain, but don’t blame me coz these are the only business I can find everywhere around the world… Anyways, if you are interested with franchise business, you can check out from the web for franchise directory.

Master Chef Malaysia soon

cooking, cookware, food, kitchenware, le creuset, master chef

Astro is full of cooking shows… Channel 703 (Asian Food Channel) alone is purely for anything about food… from cooking to building restaurant. Channel 707 (TLC) also showing some cooking programme like Jamie’s Food Escape by the famous British cook. How about reality show? Yes, there are some and they are shown at Channel 711 (Star World) like Hell Kitchen, Master Chef US, Master Chef Australia and Junior Master Chef Australia… and coming soon is Master Chef Malaysia!!!

I really can’t wait to watch what kind of food Master Chef Malaysia going to put for challenge… and how they going to cook… I’m guessing they will not gonna miss traditional cooking and food… πŸ˜› And are they going to use modern cookware likeΒ le creuset or typical kampung kitchenware… really can’t wait for the show… πŸ˜€ It’s going to be interesting since all the other Master Chef programmes are modern kind of cooking.

la flor dominicana double ligero

cigars, forex, money

If you see someone huge, fat, surrounded with lots of young girls and puffing endless la flor dominicana double ligero cigars… that guy probably has deep pocket… a very rich man… or a mafiaso god father.

Talking about money… usually we see rich people smoke cigar… but I’m not really gonna talk about cigar coz that scene we normally see on movie… yea, I’m imagining a huge fat Italian mafia godfather smoking cigar in a restaurant eating pizza… πŸ˜€ OK back to money talk… everything needs money… but how to get lots of money?… last week, I was somehow was re-introduced with forex market… buying and selling money which you don’t have… they are all virtual.

Although they are virtual, you can actually make or lose your real money… but if you do very well in forex trading, you can get tons of money… so, I wanted to try it again… the last time I tried it, I lost some money… hopefully this time I will make some… and can start smoking cigar… but wait, I hate smokers… πŸ˜›

Sabah Paintball League (SPL) Cup 2011 – 1st leg photos

massage therapy, paintball, Sabah Paintball League, spl, sports

This is a late reporting… I should have posted this last week but I was to tired and too busy… and still busy and still exhausted… πŸ˜›

Anyways, this is about the Sabah Paintball League 2011 which was held on 12 and 13 March. Once again, I was assigned by the organizer to take photos from inside the field. Like last year, I was assisted by Bonaventure who assisted me on the first day and Louis on the second day… meaning I was covering it for two days… standing under the sun for two days… well there was not much sun… it was cloudy most of the time and it was raining on the first day towards the end of the day… around 3pm.

After standing under the sun and rain for two days, I continued with journey to Sandakan for 3 days… Monday to Wednesday… went there by road which put us 8 hours on the road and I came back by air which only took about 55 minutes. I was bloody tired with the two events… I’m really exhausted… I really need a massage therapy program… I’m thinking to get body massage this weekend… probably with acupuncture too… πŸ˜›

OK, back to SPL… this time the field is much better then last year… and it is bigger too. The field was dry on the first day but it was wet when the rain came down at the end of the first day event… causing two matches carried to the following day. There are 24 teams divided into 3 groups with 8 teams each. This is the first leg of three legs league. The winners of this first leg are… 1st is Hoodlums, 2nd is Tribe-X and 3rd is Splatz 1… and I have not processed all the photos yet… here are some of it…

Winner… Hoodlums

2nd… Tribe-X

3rd… Splatz 1

4th… Mighty Owl

Journey to Sandakan after SPL

ATR 72-500, journey, journey around sabah, maswings, rv insurance

Went to Sandakan on Monday and back to KK on Wednesday. I was quite tired with the journey and furthermore I was in the paintball field the whole day on Saturday and Sunday. Journey from KK to Sandakan started around 9.00am by road… I prefer to travel by road coz it will give me opportunity to reflect life… err… you know to see what and how are life along the road… it was a long journey, about 300KM.

But I was very sleepy throughout the journey… I wish we were travelling with RV instead of the double-cabin Nissan Frontier… or could be much comfortable if we were using the Toyota Fortuner which unfortunately involved with an accident two weeks ago… not by us, but by some other department who borrowed it… πŸ˜›

And our journey was a bit weird this time coz there are so many vehicles seems to be ‘makan jalan’… you know, they drive till over to the opposite lane… I hate it when people do that… there is one corner where all three of us inside was a bit frightened by a big bus which was speeding and overshoot its corner and entered into the opposite lane… our lane… lucky nothing happen… even with rv insurance I don’t think anyone want something bad to happen… was really happy to be back safe…

On Wednesday, I did not come back by road but by air… for the first time I use the MASWings.. MASWings is owned by MAS by the way. And this is the second time I use a plane with propeller… the fist time was somewhere in early 90s using Fokker plane. This time the plane is the newer kind of plane with propeller… the ATR 72-500. Lucky a friend in Sandakan advice me to take the back seat… I was wondering why… coz the door is at the back. When I checked in, I asked for back seat, and I was given seat 18C… and the plane only has 18 rows… cool…

Inside the plane, when the announcement asked us to pay attention to the screen infront for the safety demo and instruction, I was waiting for a screen… a single big screen to come down from the roof in front… but how wrong I was… I never imagine this plane is more advance than the Boeing 737 or Airbus 320… the screen actually LCD screens above the passengers on every two rows on both sides…

OK, have to stop here… next need to write about the just concluded SPL’s 1st Leg… πŸ˜›

Japan hit by 8.9 magnitude earthquake

disaster, earthquake, japan, live telecast, sanibel island, tsunami, video feed

The bad news from Japan this afternoon, at 2.46pm local time, has shaken more than half of the world’s population…Β  an 8.9 magnitude earthquake in the Pacific Ocean, about 373 kilometres (230 miles) from Tokyo, caused major damage in north-eastern Japan.

The quake, the biggest in 100 years, created huge tsunami with 10m high tidal-wave sweeping across rice fields and towns… followed with more than 30 aftershocks for hours where some of it with more than 6.0 magnitude strength. The US National Weather Service has to issue tsunami warning to at least 50 countries and territories.

Most of the people here was so worried coz Philippines and Indonesia are in the path of the tsunami… if it go through Philippines and reach Indonesia, definitely we will be hit… but from the graphic animation on TV, we are actually covered by Philippines… one reason why we are called Land Below the Wind… Just like the sanibel island in Florida which is on the opposite side of the tsunami path in US.

Although we are away from the tsunami path, people living at coastal area facing the South China Sea are asked to be alert from 6pm to 12am local time… I hope Japan will recover from this disaster soon… and hope there is no more earthquake…
